"Sholem's Wheel of Fortune!!"
Mendy and the Golem Book Two. Published November 1981.
From the intro...
In this issue of Mendy, we talk about the Mitzvah of Hashovat Avaida (returning lost objects). This is a mitzvah we may overlook. Yet it can teach children a lot about honesty, respect for the property of friends and neighbors, and the importance of doing things for other people.
In addition to Hashovat Avaida, we also cover a number of other mitzvot. The Torah Tales stresses the idea of being humble before all people, while "The Case of the MIssing Glasses" stresses Ahavat Yisroel - love of a fellow Jew.
This issue of Mendy also introduces children to one of the most fundamental prayes in Judaism, Shema Yisroel.
As in our last issue, we encourage parents and teachers to relate these concepts to children, not only as they appear in each story, but as they occur in our everyday lives.
